A great reference for mechanically challenged drivers.

This book is a valuable reference for all drivers who would like to understand how their cars work and how to talk to and understand a mechanic. It is well written and organized. I learned what many of those squeaks, clunks & chirps mean & how to do my own maintenance. I'm giving Lucille's to my neice for her 16th birthday.

Easy to read and understand book. Troubleshooting information that every driver should be aware of. Useful tips and hints to understanding and taking care of your car better. A little knowledge helps a lot from getting ripped off by auto mechanics and dealerships.

Note this is not a technical manual and does not instruct you how to repair your car.

Unfortunately the book I ordered was used and wreaked of cigarette smell. Book pages were still in very good condition.

I bought this book when my hubby threatened to leave me last year. He'd whined so much the previous 18 mo. that I said "just go". One thing he NEVER did for me was check oil, tire pressure, etc. I wanted to know basics of under the hood stuff and this book solved the problem.

About the Author

Dr. Maxim Finkelstein received his M.Sc degree in Mathematical Physics from Leningrad State University (1971), Ph.D in OR from Leningrad Elektropribor Institute, 1979 and Doctor of Science degree (habilitation) in OR from St.-Petersburg Elektropribor Institute (1993).

���� Currently he is a Senior Professor at the Department of Mathematical Statistics, University of the Free State, Republic of South Africa and a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Rostock, Germany.

���� His main research interests are: reliability theory and applications, survival analysis, risk and safety modelling, applied stochastic processes. He had published more than 160 papers and 5 books on different aspects of reliability and stochastic modelling. His last book "Failure rate modelling for reliability and risk" was published by Springer in 2008. He is the Editor of “South African Statistical Journal”� and serves as a board member and Associate Editor for a number of international journals.

Dr. Ji Hwan Cha received his B.Sc degree in Computer Science and Statistics from Seoul National University, Korea, in 1993 and his M.Sc and Ph.D degrees in Statistics from Seoul National University in 1995 and 1999, respectively.

���� He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Statistics, Ewha Womans University, Seoul, Korea. He is an associate editor of Journal of the Korean Statistical Society. He has published numerous papers in various international journals and two books on Introductory Statistics and Reliability Theory, respectively (in Korean). This compilation seems a little rushed, but if you need a yearly PJ fix, this is a great way to do it. And since he writes for various publications, this is the best way to cover his work. He's a non-partisan (or maybe bi-partisan) offender, so no one is safe from his well-deserved jabs.

Buy a different book if you want to actually understand this...

This is a horrific text book for beginners. The first thing I noticed was half a dozen grammatical errors on the first page. After this, I had difficulty following the author because he didn't maintain the same structure for each subject. It's as if an old professor rambled his thoughts onto paper about "statistics" - like a lecture expecting a good text book to augment. The approach to some concepts is to provide a definition - others, it's "you need to know how to calculate this... so use 'X'... and here's where you don't use 'X' and here's another example of odd uses of 'X'...." If your professor is requiring this for a class, know that you neither want to learn from it nor do you want to pay money for it. Consider taking a different class or be prepared to either spend your days looking up explanations online, in a tutor's office, or on "statistics for dummies".

I believe that this book is perfect for the beginning grower

I was initially deterred from buying this book as many reviews states that it was not meant for a beginning grower. I believe that this book is perfect for the beginning grower.

Most of the information I got on growing was from Internet forums and Reddit threads. There is definitely useful and practical information found in these media; however there is also a lot of bad information, and annoying Internet personalities.

This book is great because it gives scientific information on many aspects of marijuana botany that I would never bother with learning had I not understood the plants life cycle. There are techniques I was executing without understanding the physiologic basis; I was just repeating advice from Internet posters without thinking about the theory.

This books is not the easiest read. It would be best understood by someone with a science background. Also, there are some pretty disgusting techniques mentioned in here such as treating soil with formaldehyde in an attempt to sterilize it before planting seeds or clones in it (wit?ayfs).

Anyways a great resource for the scientific minded and great for beginners.

A excellent book on breeding rather than growing

This is an excellent book if you are interested in marijuana botany and propagation. It is not the best book if you are looking for general information on how to grow marijuana--although cloning techniques like air-layering are covered well. The main benefit of this book is the detailed description of now to selective fertilize plants for seed propagation. It shows, for example, how to use bags to fertilize some of your female flowers while leaving others unfertilized.

If you are interested in developing seed this is a must read. If you just want to grow feminized seed and clones you probably don't need this book. You'd be better off with Marijuana Grow Basics: The Easy Guide for Cannabis Aficionados or if you want a DVD Learn to Grow Medical Marijuana: When You're Allowed As Few As 6 Plants and Every Plant Is Precious

There are many excellent drawing in black and white showing botanical details if you are interested in marijuana botany.

Rob Clarke is still at the cutting edge of cannabis today! This was one of his first books and it still holds true today. Excellent info on breeding cannabis from arguably the most trusted man in the industry. If you've already got a good foundation on principles of growing... this is a great way to continue expanding your knowledge.

Just ok.

I read the summary and thought, great, a good plot, promising....
But The reading was just ok, it fell flat and i just did not want to read it through. And since I never not finish a book, curiosity won and I stuck to it untill the end.... I just thought Mac was too shallow for this book to wrok, it just had me mad at her for half the book. An easy read but the characters were just too underdeveloped for me to really enjoy it. So if you just want a light read for a bored day this is the book for you.

So not a read for over 18. But it was cute. Could have been a little more explanatory and with more just more. Sorry that's confusing. Language is definitely that of a 14 yr old. (It was funny, exasperating, and young) perfect for a young audience.

This book was really sweet and so funny at times. It's more suited for maybe middle school or high school students. It's a quick read but the author did a great job and I definitely want to read more of her work!!!!
